Fabio Coentrao is a Portuguese professional footballer who primarily plays as a left-back. He was born on March 11, 1988, in Vila do Conde, Portugal. Coentrao began his career with the youth academy of Rio Ave before moving to Benfica in 2007. He made his senior debut for Benfica in 2008 and quickly established himself as one of the best young left-backs in Europe.
In 2011, Coentrao joined Spanish club Real Madrid, where he won numerous domestic and international titles, including the La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. He also represented the Portugal national team, earning over 50 caps and playing in several major international tournaments, including the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Championship.
Coentrao has had his fair share of injury setbacks throughout his career, which has limited his playing time at times. Despite this, he is regarded as a talented and versatile player known for his pace, defensive abilities, and crossing skills. As of now, Coentrao is playing for Rio Ave in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.
